This is the painting that won me first place in the Ft. Worth Stock Show Art Competition this year. And a 2000 scholarhip. To date, it's my best traditional piece and I will say: I am proud of it. There. Said it.
I am glowing with it. Or I certainly was on Jan 26th. Glowing like 1980s Moscow.
The theme for the art competition this year was 'more than just a game'. So I went for something that looked a lot more old fashioned than a lady on a spazzed out horse running around cans or a guy on a bull under bright lights. The tack and clothing is a lot more 1800s.

Tremendous use of framing and perspective. I love the dusty white space in the upper left. Excellent work
